Bio

Michael Ladisch is the Scholarly Communications Officer and Program Lead at the UC Davis Library. He provides guidance and support to the UC Davis researcher community on issues related to copyright for teaching or research, licensing, publishing agreements, and research impact. He also serves as the primary spokesperson regarding all aspects of scholarly publishing, barrier-free access to knowledge, and new modes of knowledge creation. In his position he often collaborates with colleagues at other UC campus libraries and is engaged in national and international initiatives to advance open access publishing.

Michael is a research librarian with more than 20 years of experience in academic settings. He has a M.A. in Library and Information Science from Humboldt University Berlin and held library positions ranging from Germany to Ireland to the U.S. Before joining UC Davis in June 2019 Michael served as bibliometrics librarian at University College Dublin, as Head of the University Hospital Library in his hometown Halle/Germany and Head Librarian at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in the same town. He also spent several years working as a research analyst at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
