7th Annual Breastmilk Drive
UC Davis is co-sponsoring the 7th Annual Breastmilk Drive where people are invited to bring their extra frozen human milk (expressed within the past 6 months) to one of the participating locations throughout the Sacramento area, including UC Davis Medical Group at 2660 W. Covell Blvd, on December 6, from 10:00-2:00 pm.
Donating Mothers’ Milk is as important as donating blood. Science right here at UC Davis continues to unlock the secrets hidden in human milk and this milk is crucial to support fragile infants in Neonatal Intensive Care. This milk drive is intended to increase awareness of the power of human milk, the need for increased human milk donation to non-profit Milk Banks and the engagement of the community to make milk donation a priority.
Collected milk will go to San Jose Mothers’ Milk Bank, the oldest operating milk bank in North America and the only non-profit organization (501 c (3) of its kind in the state of California. Its mission is to help ensure families that the most vulnerable infants can thrive by providing donor pasteurized human milk to babies in cases where a mother's own milk is not available.
Check out this flyer for information on dates (Dec 3-6) and locations as well as information on how to pre-register. Refer to mothersmilk.org/donate to lean about the donation process.
