Here’s How You Can Help or Get Help
We know the ongoing federal government shutdown may be affecting members of our community. Moments like this remind us how much we depend on one another and the power of simple acts of care.

HOLIDAY HELPING: Food Drives Ramp Up as Federal Benefits Uncertain
If you’re in a position to help, there are many ways to support those around us.
You can contribute to, volunteer with, or receive support from local organizations such as the Yolo Food Bank and Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, which serve many in our campus and regional communities.
If someone you know needs support, please reach out. UC Davis offers confidential and caring resources through the Academic and Staff Assistance Program and our Employee Essential Needs page, which connects employees with food, housing, childcare and financial resources.
We continue to prioritize essential needs and food security across our communities. Here are a couple of important efforts supporting those facing food insecurity:
- Transportation Services’ Donations for Citations program launches next week for its second year, supporting The Pantry. Last year’s drive was the most successful in Pantry history.
- Mail Services’ 20th Annual Holiday Food Drive runs November 3–21, collecting non-perishable items through outgoing campus or UC Davis Health mail.
We’re grateful for the way this community shows up for one another, with kindness, generosity and care.
